Start Day First Day of 2018 Fall classes (October start) (Multi-Day Event)
First Day of Classes
Start Day Gerrymandering in Michigan Politics: Student Created Exhibit (Multi-Day Event)
Participants will view a breadth of information on the timely issue on gerrymandering in this unique poster series. Gerrymandering, which is the practice of manipulating district boundaries to give a political advantage to a particular party or group, has been the focus of a group of volunteers (Voters Not Politicians) in Michigan. They have succeeded in placing this controversial issue within the November 2018 ballot proposals.
To further explore the idea of voting, a group of judges will be formed from key areas of the College to vote on the best poster boards created! Come view the worthy entries in this first-time exhibit.

11:00 AM - 12:30 PM Night by Elie Weisel: Book Discussion
Born in the town of Sighet, Transylvania, Elie Wiesel was a teenager when he and his family were deported to Auschwitz and then Buchenwald. Night is the shattering record of his memories of the death of his mother, father, and little sister, Tsipora; the death of his own innocence; and the despair as a deeply observant Jew confronting the absolute evil of man. Far more than a chronicle of the sadistic realm of the camps, Night also addresses many of the philosophical and personal questions implicit in any serious consideration of the Holocaust.
