Start Day Testimonios de Una Guerra: Cultural Exhibit (Multi-Day Event)

This exhibit is part of an extended cultural project for the community, one focused on the Mexican Revolution. The Mexican Revolution of 1910-1920 is among the world’s most visually documented revolutions. Coinciding with the birth of filmmaking and the increased mobility offered by the reflex camera, it received extraordinary coverage by photographers. With almost 60 photographs, many never before published, and an authoritative text that delves into the motivations and aesthetics of the photographers who took them, this exhibit represents the most ambitious and historically accurate visual record of the Mexican Revolution.

7:30 PM - 9:30 PM Irma Thomas, The Blind Boys of Alabama & The Preservation Hall Legacy Quintet
Presented by Preservation Hall and Columbia Artists

If the French Quarter is the musical heart of New Orleans, then Preservation Hall is its heartbeat. Take a group of long-time performers from the venerable concert hall, combine them with the Crescent City’s “Soul Queen” Irma Thomas, throw in the spiritual authority of The Blind Boys of Alabama, and you get a very special evening of music that showcases “The Heart and Soul Queen of New Orleans.”

Touring together for the first time, "The Heart and Soul Queen of New Orleans" featuring Irma Thomas, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and The Preservation Hall Legacy Quintet, will treat audiences to a special evening filled with musical collaborations and traditional standards.
