6:30 PM - 8:00 PM Parisian Cuisine: Study Abroad Culinary Dinner

Knowledge of French cooking and its criteria is commonly used – and revered – in Western culinary education. In November 2010, French gastronomy was added by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization to its list of the world’s “intangible cultural heritage.”

In the 20th Century, August Escoffier systematized French cuisine to become the modern haute cuisine, literally “high cooking” in translation.

This dinner, served to benefit MMII’s Study Abroad fund, will feature the very best of a Parisian meal. Parisian cuisine embodies the traditional French dining experience and execution of supreme technique, combined with the touch of regional markets and the influence of international restaurants.

Participation in the dinner and reflective questions on Parisian cuisine and culture qualifies partakers to 0.15 CEUs of credit towards the MMII C3 (Cultural Competency Certificate). To receive credit at the dinner, please see Dr. Gary Flemming or Dr. Cassandra Spieles that evening at Center Stage Restaurant.

A portion of the ticket sales for this event will benefit the Study Abroad initiative at Macomb Community College. Please visit www.macomb.edu/mmii for more information on Study Abroad opportunities.
