All Day Michigan Thumb Region Scholastic Art Awards Exhibit (Multi-Day Event)
Since 2007, the Lorenzo Cultural Center has partnered with the College for Creative Studies to host the Michigan Thumb Region of the Scholastic Art Awards, adjudicating nearly 2,000 pieces, and displaying over 500 award-winning pieces of art from students in grades 7 through 12, before those awarded top honors move on to the National Scholastic Art Competition in New York. 

Regular Hours: Mon – Sat 10am-4pm; Thurs. 10am-8pm.

Explore the diverse history and culture of African Americans and their African origins through a guided tour of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. Registration for this trip opens on Tuesday, April 17th at 8:00AM. The cost to attend is a $15 deposit which will be returned upon trip attendance. Please contact Student Life and Leadership to register for the trip.

Tour Tweddle Group, gain insights to the digital world. Tweddle is the leading creators of the digital experience. Whether you are in design, video production, sales and marketing or Information Technology, Tweddle Group has opportunities to explore. Travel by bus and return approximately 1 pm.

This is a Perkins Funded Event. Seating is limited to 20 students.

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Multicultural Film Series: A Girl Like Her
Facilitator: Paul Chrustowski

A Girl Like Her is a drama based on real-life stories and challenges of today’s youth. The film was written, directed and produced by Michigan LGBT businesswoman Amy S. Weber and was filmed in a Birmingham, MI high school. The film will be used as a springboard for an academic discussion on the identification, prevention and intervention of bullying, relational aggression and suicide. Discussion will led by Macomb Community College Professor of Psychology Paul Chrustowski.

Student Success Seminars offer college students an opportunity to learn new strategies that will enhance their ability to succeed in college. In Learning Styles and Academic Reading students will identify their personal learning style and learn techniques for reading college text to increase comprehension.
