Start Day Suicide Awareness & Prevention Week: Remembrance Wall (Multi-Day Event)

A Remembrance Wall will be placed in K Building near the main entrance. All will be welcomed to post a memory, a name of a friend or loved one who passed from suicide, or a thoughtful message throughout the week.

According to the World Health Organization, almost one million individuals commit suicide each year. In the last 45 years, suicide rates have increased 60% globally. In the U.S. alone, there is an average of one suicide committed every 15 minutes.

Start Day Suicide Awareness & Prevention Week: Stomp Out Suicide (Multi-Day Event)

To represent the approximately 1,100 U.S. college students who commit suicide each year, shoes will be placed around campus. Attached to each pair of shoes will be a brief bio of a college student who committed suicide. The intention is to demonstrate the impact of this issue and raise awareness. In addition to the shoes, statistics and information regarding suicide will be placed on signs and written on sidewalks using chalk to grab attention.
