End Day Suicide Awareness & Prevention Week: Remembrance Wall (Multi-Day Event)
According to the World Health Organization, almost one million individuals commit suicide each year. In the last 45 years, suicide rates have increased 60% globally. In the U.S. alone, there is an average of one suicide committed every 15 minutes.
A Remembrance Wall will be placed in both Student Center buildings (Center P & South K). All will be welcomed to post a memory, a name of a friend or loved one who passed from suicide, or a thoughtful message throughout the week.

End Day Suicide Awareness & Prevention Week: Stomp Out Suicide (Multi-Day Event)
To represent the approximately 1,100 U.S. college students who commit suicide each year, shoes will be placed around campus. Attached to each pair of shoes will be a brief bio of a college student who committed suicide. The intention is to demonstrate the impact of this issue and raise awareness. In addition to the shoes, statistics and information regarding suicide will be place on signs and written on sidewalks using chalk to draw attention.

This library exhibit will include student-produced informational posters, flyers, stories, artwork and community resources all related to educating on issues related to suicide.

A suicide attempt survivor is on a mission to find fellow survivors and document their stories of courage and insight. Along the way, she discovers a rising national movement transforming personal struggles into action. Challenging stereotypes, The S Word recognizes the triumphs of these artists, activists, and survivors.
