Celebrating Constitution Day: The Truth about Freedom of Speech
Start Date: 9/18/2017Start Time: 12:30 AM
End Date: 9/18/2017End Time: 2:00 AM

Event Description:

The First Amendment states, in relevant part, that:

"Congress shall make no law… abridging freedom of speech."

Among other cherished values, the First Amendment of the United States Constitution protects freedom of speech. The U.S. Supreme Court often has struggled to determine what exactly constitutes protected speech.

In this discussion, Professors of Political Science Gary Flemming and Brooke Allen will examine the responsibilities associated with freedom of speech, including on the campuses of Macomb Community College.
